Cozy Mystery by Rosalyn Rikel
Writing a cozy mystery book simply for the entertainment of more mature readers has been a goal of mine for many years. I get a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction from creating characters and situations, especially for the purpose of entertaining others. It is my hope that this just-for-the-fun-of-it book will do just that — entertain. And, in case you're wondering, there just could be more secrets hidden in the past of Millicent, her late husband Bernie, and others . . . so stay tuned! |
MILLICENT'S TOWER
A cozy mystery written by Rosalyn Rikel for a more mature genre and audience. INTRODUCTION TO Millicent's Tower
When the Gallager family decided to visit Rochelle's Aunt Millicent, who lived in a large mansion on the side of a mountain in East Tennessee, little did they know they were letting themselves in on some mysterious developments in the life of this relative who inhabited the tower. As the family became re-acquainted with her, they began to wonder about what was really going on. What secrets did the tower hold? How much money was actually stashed there? What was the bulge in her apron pocket? Who was the strange gardener who kept peering through the shrubs and bushes? How much did the other people who appeared in her life know about her peculiar ways. And just how safe were they and the rest of the family? EXCERPT FROM Millicent's Tower "Inside the tower, a body lay on the floor beside the bed. The house was as still and dead as the telephone receiver that dangled from the nightstand. A cat prowled around the dark room like a prisoner looking for an escape. Occasionally, it sniffed around the lifeless body on the floor, as if trying to rouse it. No other movements or sounds were present in the darkness." |
REVIEWS for Millicent's Tower
Publishers Weekly Review 11/8/13
This title publishes JAN 2014
“Children’s poet and novelist Rikel makes her adult mystery debut with this engaging cozy. Rikel, who has a clear prose style, wisely chooses to set events in 1982, leaving her characters to rely on their ingenuity rather than up-to-date technology to crack the case.”
"Written with characteristic wit and charm, Rikel once again celebrates family and individual quirks with an intriguing mystery. Her characters are rich and real, each driven by their own goals and desires yet each firmly committed to their sense of family connections."

"I finished Millicent's Tower last night. It ususally takes me a few chapters to get into a book but I was hooked from the start! Such great suspense filled the pages as the words, like a brush, painted illustrations through my mind."
— By Susan Loyd
"Your book is fabulous. Had me hooked from the beginning, I was trying to figure out the clues and how it would turn out myself.
I loved every minute of it. It was what I would call a ‘page turner’, I did not want to put it down. Definitely recommend this book to my friends and family!
